More than 300 people came together to support Northwestern’s commitment to improving health worldwide during the 12th Annual Global Health Initiative (GHI) Benefit Dinner. The event followed the launch of the medical school’s new Institute for Global Health. GHS Director Dr. Bill Leonard serves as the Co-Director of the Center for Global Health Education.

Anthropology and Global Health Studies faculty member Dr. Sera Young was recently named to the fifth class of Andrew Carnegie Fellows. Each recipient of the so-called “Brainy Award” will receive a grant of up to $200,000, making it possible for them to devote significant time to research, writing and publishing in the humanities and social sciences.

Global Health Studies faculty member Dr. Noelle Sullivan was named an Alice Kaplan Institute Fellow for the 2019-2020 academic year. Dr. Sullivan will be working on her project Consuming the Hospital: International Voluntourism in Tanzanian Health Facilities.
